Viktor&Rolf Pre-Fall 2013: “Wild Romance"
January 13, 2013
Viktor&Rolf’s Autumn/Winter 2013 Pre-Fall collection reflects a mood that is at once opulent yet minimalistic, rebellious yet romantic. The iconic house codes of contrast and juxtaposition are present throughout the collection.
Pronounced, couture-inspired silhouettes are relaxed and modern daywear in whimsical yet precious fabrics with crocodile prints, jacquards and embroideries.
Suiting evolves in two ways: graphically constructed or soft and fluid. Graphic suiting plays with a trompe-l’oeil motif of garment-on-garment layering, adding depth. The tuxedo offering ranges from suits via separates to dresses. It expands from suiting materials such as silk-wool to include dress fabrics such as soft crepe stretch and silk faille. Skirt pairings are proposed as a trouser alternative, and a tuxedo becomes a jumpsuit. Soft tailoring in masculine fil-à-fil and tweedy fabrics has rounded shoulders and an elasticized waist, adding an elegant ease to a classic look.
