The ideas that underpin Viktor & Rolf’s output can, in most cases, be read as autobiographical in
essence. The designers described the ‘Blacklight’ collection as a reflection of the feeling they had at the time that things were working out. Their sense of victory was translated into a black-and-white show, the first part of which was shown in black light, the second in white – as if they had conquered their demons and were in the spotlight.
